At approximately 6pm Hammondsport Fire was alerted to a car rollover with 1 person trapped. Rescue 7 and 2101 were on scene within 6 minutes of the alarm and found a late model bmw resting on its side at the bottom of a 20 foot drop. Crews from rescue 7 quickly went to work stabilizing the vehicle and removing the windshield to allow the occupant to be removed. The patient was taken to Ira Davenport Hospital just to be checked out. All units were back in service within an hour. Hammondsport Fire was assisted by Hammondsport Ambulance, Hammondsport PD and the Steuben County Sheriffs Department.

On Friday May 11th, at 10:37 pm the Hammondport Fire Department was alerted to an MVA with a vehicle on fire on County Route 87 in the town of Urbana. 2101 was on scene within 5 minutes and reported a pick up truck fully involved blocking the road. Initial dispatch stated that the patient had left on foot.
Engine 24 was on scene quickly and crews went to work extinguishing the blaze. Rescue 7 crews set up lights and helped with clearing the roadway of debris.
The Vehicle left the roadway striking a culvert which launched it into the air causing it to strike a utility pole and shatter it. The vehicle came to rest in the middle of the road and caught fire. There were no injuries to any first responders. The driver of the vehicle was found a few houses away and was taken by Hammondsport Ambulance to be checked out.
All units were on scene for about an hour and 30 minutes.

On 4/27/12 at 6:30 pm the Hammondsport Fire Department and Hammondsport Ambulance were called out to the report of a possible drowning. 2102 and 2101 were on scene within minutes of the call and reported that there was a diver in the lake and people on shore said he had not come back up yet. 2101 called mutual aid from the Wayne Fire Department for manpower and their boats, Pulteney Fire for their boat, the Steuben County Sheriff Dive Team, and the State Police Dive Team.
Hammondsport Marine 21 was on scene within minutes and set up at the dock to get ready for dive and recovery operations while the smaller boats from Wayne used an underwater camera to try and locate the victim.
Approximately 1 hour after the initial call the victim was located in approximately 13 feet of water about 60 feet from shore. 1 Diver with the Steuben County Sheriff Dive Team and 1 State Police diver pulled the victim from the water and place him on Marine 21 and was then transported to awaiting ambulance personnel on shore. The victim was then transported to Ira Davenport Hospital.
Hammondsport would like to thank all departments involved for a job well done. All of the companies involved worked together in a very proficient and professional manner.

At approximately 12:35 Hammondsport units were called to a reported vehicle fire on the South Lake Road in the Town Of Urbana. 2102 was on scene shortly followed by 2101 both reporting a working vehicle fire. Crews from Engine 24 arrived shortly after and quickly went to work extinguishing the fire. no one was injured and all units were back in service within an hour.

On Monday, April 16th the Hammondsport Fire Department was alerted to a farm tractor accident in the town of Urbana. Car 21 arrived on scene of a vineyard tractor rolled over with a person trapped under it. The determination was quickly made to get assistance from a local towing company to help lift the tractor. Crews From Rescue 7 used cribbing to support the machine while it was being lifted. The Patient under the Tractor was removed but unfortunately did not survive due to the nature of the injuries.
This was a very difficult incident for the members to handle but they did so with great professionalism. The Members of the Hammondsport Fire Department are very well trained to handle situations like these.
Hammondsport Fire Department, The New York State Police, Hammondsport Ambulance and T&R Towing all responded to the scene.

At around 14:54 hours on Easter Sunday the Hammondsport Fire Department was alerted for the brush fire at the intersection of Two Rod road and Randallville road. 2101 immediately went in route and was unable to locate the fire at the location given. Upon further investigation he was able to locate the fire on Hungry Hollow rd. in the town of Wheeler. Dispatch was notified to send Pulteney with an ATV and manpower, Prattsburgh with manpower and a brush truck, Bath with manpower and a brush truck, Avoca with an ATV and manpower, Kanona with manpower, and Atlanta with an ATV, and State Forest Ranger 8N829.
All units were in operation until approximately 7pm. The Fire consumed about 11 acres. There were no injuries. A very big thank you to all of the departments involved!

On Feb. 11th at approximately 15:44 hours the Hammondsport Fire Department was called out for the reported traffic accident with entrapment on County route13. R-7 called on scene with a truck in the ditch with one person unable to get out of the vehicle. The crew from R-7 quickly went to work stabalizing the vehicle and used the Amkus cutters to take the driver side door off of the vehicle. The occupant was quickly removed and transported to the local hospital for a check over. All units were back in service within an hour.

On monday Feb. 6 Hammondsport volunteers were called to the town of bath to assist with a structure fire. Bath Fire was on scene with a single story wood frame dwelling that was well involved. Hammondsport responded with 6 volunteers and assisted with overhaul.
