Tuesday, May 15, 2012 On Friday May 11th, at 10:37 pm the Hammondport Fire Department was alerted to an MVA with a vehicle on fire on County Route 87 in the town of Urbana.  2101 was on scene within 5 minutes and reported a pick up truck fully involved blocking the road.  Initial dispatch stated that the patient had left on foot.

Engine 24 was on scene quickly and crews went to work extinguishing the blaze. Rescue 7 crews set up lights and helped with clearing the roadway of debris.

The Vehicle left the roadway striking a culvert which launched it into the air causing it to strike a utility pole and shatter it.  The vehicle came to rest in the middle of the road and caught fire.  There were no injuries to any first responders.  The driver of the vehicle was found a few houses away and was taken by Hammondsport Ambulance to be checked out.

All units were on scene for about an hour and 30 minutes.
